Re: Greatest Album of 1979 - Preliminary Round 3

Great choice of albums. I've said for years that 1979 is the best year for music ever. However I do accept that it's subjective and in my case may be age related.

Well spotted I think that you are right. I initially thought that it was Jeanette Lee because of her association w...

A kind of silly, primitive feeling of "hey, that's my band"
100% same.
Glad it's not just me!
I'm also likewise. For some reason it always seems to be a more enjoyable listen on the radio.
Doesn't just apply exclusively to The Clash for me either.

Re: Video: Joe Strummer on Portobello Road in 1990

Here's another clip from the same source, with Joe getting the first 45 or so seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqcoUofsKkc I'm curious what Portobello Pirate TV was. Some type of local access thing? Don't know how works in the UK, but I'd love to hear the full scoop on that. I can't really ...

Re: Association Football Thread

Very fucking harsh mate. To all those season ticket holders and lifelong fans etc. So they get screwed either way. I am a heartless bastard. ;) Yes I heard you support Sunderland. ;) I want others to experience my pain. Ed Woodward has resigned. He's all yours now. It's unravelling fast now. United...

Look at that crowd! Excellent stuff.
Great footage, takes me back, was near the front the week before this at Bristol Colston Hall.
I was also at The Colston Hall about half way back though. Sadly no Mikey Dread in Bristol.

Re: Plenty of Beatles, Creedence Clearwater, Slickers in 1985 - Surprise busking tape emerges

Just read the story on BMC, amazing. The Twist and Shout/La Bamba at the end is so fun. Probably worth putting it here. Thanks to all involved for getting this out there. The Clash hits Hendon, Sunderland, Sunday May 12th 1985. It was around 2pm, Sunday, May 12th 1985. The Salem Hotel was approachi...

Re: Hey limeys

It seems rather disturbing to me that the police are beating up innocent protesters, routinely lying to the public and yet the leader of the opposition, so desperate to be the voice of law and order, has absolutely nothing to say about it whatsoever. Yes, like this... https://twitter.com/i/status/1...
