Re: The Clash Video Footage | Kinolibrary x Don Letts

Yeah that confused me - in fact I thought it wasn't actually the Slits at first. It's certainly not the early 1980s Slits. Never known of Ari playing bass before. Not seen any old footage of Ari playing bass. But... when I saw them live in 2009, Ari took over bass duties while Holly sang and Tessa ...

The Jam were a singles band. Excellent singles, yes, but the albums never did much for me. I didn't think it even merited inclusion in the top ten.

Re: Greatest Album of 1979 - Preliminary Round 1

Tough choices, I went with Clash, GO4, Cure, Elvis, Slits.

Felt bad ditching Crass, Damned, JD, PiL, Specials... :naughty:

If anyone can re-upload the version without the Japanese subtitles I'd really appreciate it ;)

Thanks, Gimmix.

Re: What’s the consensus on oi bands here?

Cockney Rejects, Sham 69 and Angelic Upstarts are bands I was listening to before Bushell decided to invent the Oi moniker and I still maintain that those bands are punk bands. The Oi movement, it's politics and the bands that sprang from it hold no interest to me at all.

Forgot all about the Dickies, good post Gimmix.

How about some Nights In White Satin while we're at it?
Good shout. I prefer their Paranoid over the original...

Re: Debate Me: “Now Then...” is the best Stiff Little Fingers record

No, Inflammable Material is by far the best album, I also enjoy elements of Nobody's Heroes and Hanx but after that they lost their appeal for me. The early singles are great too. I was invited by a mate to see them on their 1991 tour, I truly wished that I hadn't gone... Just tried to listen to No...
