New album imminent.

Ordered the 2CD version earlier today. Orwellian sounds pretty good on first listen.
😎
Not really feeling it. Hopefully the album is better.

Re: The New Ska Thread

I want TMMB to put out a TMMB record. Im not expecting innovation and shit. They fill a slot and I enjoy it. Yes but there’s no denying that they’ve watered down their sound quite a bit since the reunion. Not much true punk/Ska-Core influence left. Call it maturity, whatever you want. I don’t hold ...

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?

Faith No More is another 90s metal band with a terribly obnoxious lead singer that I happen to absolutely love. I'm also a big fan, but only from Angel Dust forward. I follow a lot of Patton's work outside of that as well. I like everything up until album of the year. I feel like by that time they ...

Hello,

The new Mighty Mighty Bosstones album is out today. Enjoy!

They’ve gotten pretty boring. It’s all up stroked ska stuff. A lot of it sounds Samey. Pin points and gin joints was the last of theirs I really liked

Re: The Great Thread of YouTube Magnificence!

Makes me want to start a Depeche Mode cover band. I've always wanted to start a Duran Duran tribute band (yes, I am a pretty big Duranie). I once listened to an episode of Sound Opinions where they had someone from the Moog Museum who kept trashing 80's synth pop musicians. His implication was they...

Re: How much are pitchfork endorsed indie bands hated on here?

I loved the first Pavement album when it came out, but it sounds super dated to me now. I listened to a bit of Crooked Rain yesterday evening, and, yeah, uncomfortably dated. How so though? It’s kind of just scuzzy alt rock music. Listening to 80s stuff like the cure is just as dated production wis...

It’s very 90s sounding, but also kind of timeless. Idk

Re: The Exploding Hearts

Just rediscovered this album as well. Totally sounds like Mick fronted Clash. Full of barre chords and classic rock and roll riffs. Idk how big they would have become though. Lots of great bands from that early 2000s era got sadly ignored.

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Speaking of ska, its detractors, and defenders: https://music.avclub.com/if-emo-can-be-rehabbed-why-not-ska-1846778697 I saw that yesterday, good article on the current ska revival. but, also, i think it makes a fairly obvious error in the title suggesting emo has been "rehabbed" in any ways. Awful...

Re: The Clash observations thread.

I’ll say it again, it still baffles me that the Ramones didn’t end up becoming the biggest band in the world. From the big apple, and writes razor sharp pop songs that could fit perfectly on any advert, and not hyper political like their contemporaries. Marketing marketing marketing. When a big lab...
