Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon

Joe’s estate does not control the records that came out previous to his deal with Hellcat. Anything from the 80’s soundtracks and Earthquake Weather included on 001 was licensed for that box by Dark Horse. This is also the probable explanation for credits being assigned individually for the 1983/84 ...

Re: Red Angel Dragnet

Yeah, but would you have voted for Curtis Sliwa for mayor recently if you lived in New York? Not me. Whatever one thinks about Eric Adams.

Re: Earthquake Weather remixed remaster.

Could well be, Telecaster. Joe was a big fan of the Graceland album.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

No one cleared samples in the 80’s until the Biz Markie lawsuit. There are also different metrics, with record sales having fallen off exponentially since 1985.

Mick wanted to use Inoculated City on there. He dug up multiple mixes of it.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

I only asked why Cool Confusion wasn’t there. Inoculated City came up in conversation and Mick said he wanted to use it but they were unwilling to pay for the samples in the original mix. Don’t forget they even had to remove 2000 Flushes until they settled. He said dealing with the record company on...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

Two bits of info: The record company wouldn't pay to clear the samples for the extended Inoculated City. Mick would have included the "final" version from Electric Lady, dated February 2nd, a couple of days after the Rat Patrol acetates were cut. They didn't include Cool Confusion because Mick doesn...

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate

Yes, Mark, it is interesting. Overpowered by Funk wasn’t on the proposed track list for Rat Patrol. It was meant for that bonus 12”. It’s placed at the very end of the Rat Patrol master tape after the final song.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

The less said about the rest of the music the better. I saw some scans of the art and it looks like there's about a page of extremely babbling nonsense liner notes and nothing about any of the tracks. awesome stuff. The end. Tom Vague is a “legendary” Notting Hill counterculture scene maker who edi...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

He Who Dares and Know Your Rights were newly mixed by Declan Gaffney, who worked with Mick on the recent Subway Sect album. I really don’t know what the band politics were around this release. Seems like it may be worthwhile to have if you wanted a CD of Combat Rock, and CD2 gives you a version of ...

Re: Complete Control Demo/Outake??

Neither the Lee Perry produced version of Pressure Drop nor his mix of Complete Control are "out there". The Clash were interested in releasing them as a tribute to Scratch after he died, but they couldn't find the tapes until months later.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

To quote the singer, “home movie mix”. This is an interesting conversation. On one hand we like the mixes from Rat Patrol; on the other hand, at least some tracks should be remixed. In a way, both can be true.

As for me, I like Kangaroo Court more than Fulham Connection. Very enjoyable lyrics.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

Some random thoughts to add to the mix, after a couple of days' digestion of ongoing chat: Maybe 'Outside Bonds' is a Sony mix-up ID for 'Outside Broadcast', one of the Radio Clash mixes on the UK 12" - but edited down to 4' 21" . It would be a logical fit in the track sequence, fading into Radio C...
