Re: Bye bye Biden.

I have the perhaps unenviable distinction of having read very nearly everything starting with All-New, All-Different up to today, so 1975–2024. I've only missed a couple titles like some of the Gambit miniseries' or whatever. I think my math when I caught up to contemporary titles in 2019 came out ...

Re: Ask Heston, a thread where you ask Heston

Can I suggest you ask Kory. I've only read about it and don't want to do him a disservice.🤣 Ah, my mistake. I thought you were his international booker. I don't have a ten foot pole, you know. But if I did... You'd make Kory show off his moves? Not even for money. Big money. Very principled of you....

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Right 100% agree. My point being I've seen all those bands being lumped in with grunge/alt. rock and so on. In the same way thousands of bands were called punk yet were more art rock or post rock or whatever. I've never been concerned by the definitions because they are all pretty loose in acceptin...

Re: Ask Heston, a thread where you ask Heston

$50 seems fair for sweeping up. Is that the name of a particular routine? Can I suggest you ask Kory. I've only read about it and don't want to do him a disservice.🤣 Ah, my mistake. Re: Simmo and Patti Smith

Could he be any worse than the Jonathan Rhyss Myers guy or whatever his name was? I didn't watch that film, but I think the answer is nobody should be doing it. As a genre, biopics have never done much for me. Seeing a few clips from the Amy Winehouse film nearly left me traumatised and I wasn't ev...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Mudhoney Red Kross The Pixies Sonic Youth All get lumped in with grunge. All made brilliant albums. Mudhoney are the only one I'd associate with grunge. Pixies and Sonic Youth, no way no how. SY, especially, were art rock, better connected to No Wave than punk of any kind. Right 100% agree. My poin...

Re: Ask Heston, a thread where you ask Heston

What Im hearing is Kory couldn't find a way to spend $50 at a Saskatoon strip club. That either soeaks to his character or the quality of the strippers at said club. Counter possibility: Kory earned that $50 at a strip club! $50 seems fair for sweeping up. Is that the name of a particular routine? ...

Re: Bye bye Biden.

That was a particularly low point, but like anything that's been around this long, there's peaks and valleys. I read Uncanny from around the Dark Phoenix story until issue 200 and New Mutants to the same time. I also read Grant Morrison's run (after the fact) and generally enjoyed his take. I have ...

Re: Simmo and Patti Smith

Hmm, could Ryan Reynolds pull off Joe in a biopic? God help us all Could he be any worse than the Jonathan Rhyss Myers guy or whatever his name was? I didn't watch that film, but I think the answer is nobody should be doing it. As a genre, biopics have never done much for me. Seeing a few clips fro...

Re: Simmo and Patti Smith

Look—pouches and no feet. It's gotta be him! Joe's chest size wasn't 72 inches, tho. He's got more Deadpool proportions I guess. Except for being short. Hmm, could Ryan Reynolds pull off Joe in a biopic? Only if Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson can pull off Mick. We've got the makings of an awful Clash mo...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Grunge is just music from people who liked equally boring rock from the 70s. It took punk and then figured out how to make it tedious and goth-y. How are you defining goth here, I need to know whether to take exception. The corny mopiness. I don't know that I would have thought of grunge or related...

Re: Bye bye Biden.

Better than Bird Brain or Gosamyr. Had to look them up. Man, so much X-Men-related stuff looks terrible. That was a particularly low point, but like anything that's been around this long, there's peaks and valleys. I read Uncanny from around the Dark Phoenix story until issue 200 and New Mutants to...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Some tv show is being advertised and uses a snippet of "Black Hole Sun." It reminds and reinforces how damned boring I found and still find around 95% of grunge. It wants to be heavy and deep and dark, but it just sounds corny to me. Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Tad and all the others I can't think of n...
