Re: The Mark Trail Thread of Punching Justice and Smug Life Lessons

Is anyone still keeping up with Mark Trail? I check in every 3 or 4 days now, and it is just deathly dull. No energy and nothing even to make fun of. I have no idea what she's trying to do or who the target audience is.

First person to post a cover of a Bruce song gets a one week ban. :naughty:
*waiting for Heston to post Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Born to Run"*
Heston knows how tenuous his lead is on Black Diamond and not to cross me.
Heston is insane. He does insane things.

Re: A Bunch of Fives (New Challenge Thread)

Making up for my lazy-assery with WWK’s picks … Santigold, "Who I Thought You Were.” Something that clearly draws from early 80s synth new wave without being a slavish copycat. It’s like a mature reconsideration of new wave. And groovy as all get out. This is flat-out fantastic. Sincere Engineer, "H...

Problem: Sabbath's "Iron Man" is awesome. Perhaps I'm a bit biased. You weren't posting here during the great Paranoid War last year, were you? Lack of respect for early Sabbath will arch many eyebrows. No, too new to have been involved in that one. No disrespect for Sabbath intended, I j...

Re: Whatcha reading?

Okay, yeah, Whitted's book on EC and race. It's quite good and takes seriously the idea that "lowbrow" entertainment could make a meaningful contribution to major social justice issues—in this case, civil rights in America. EC set aside a few stories in their books to engage in socially meaningful d...

Redeeming the Unredeemable: Good Covers of Bad Songs

Not great covers of good songs (e.g., Devo doing "Satisfaction") but shitty songs that somehow become decent in the hands of someone more skilled.

Missouri's age of consent? :shifty:
Ha! Actually, unsurprisingly, 12 year olds were able to marry in MO up until a few years ago.
