Re: Currently watching.

Anybody here watch "EVIL"? It's on Paramount (Which can be streamed through Amazon, to further muddle things)... Basically, you've got a priest-in-training, a psychologist, and a jack-of -all-trades tech/ handyman guy investigating demonic goings-on for the catholic church. Anyway, it's batshit cra...

Usually the headline is the best bit in stuff like this, but the body on this one is also quite good.

Re: Whatcha reading?

I read that new Manson and the CIA book last summer, it was great. It does a great job tearing apart Helter skelter, although it's more conspiratorial assertions are less iron-clad (tho intriguing). Would be interesting to pair the two books together.

If you didn't vote but still want to tell Flex to his face that The Exploited are, in actuality, a really shitty band, send me a PM and I'll provide you with the link.
Oh, just because a band makes crappy music they're a shitty band now? Wow, cancel culture really has gotten out of control.

Re: Flex's Takes: The Beach Boys

Listening to some of the new comp I listed above and their early 70s stuff is weird and barley recognizable. It just sounds very 70s rock with randos that aren’t the Wilson family singing and stuff. The hardcore fans seem to like it, but it’s definitely not immediately familiar or too relatable to ...

That's basically Heston's argument for KISS.
Heston mistakes total enlightenment for syphilis, so it's an understandable mix-up

Re: Whatcha reading?

I'm betraying my training and inclinations as a historian to say I'm deeply wary of any kind of universalist argument. Context matters. Geography, sex, gender, race, class, and time period all play a role in how we perceive the world and are perceived by others, and events are constantly emerging, ...
