Re: ...The trumpet sounded and the fifth seal was opened...

6YO told me last night that she thinks that Daddy Was a Bankrobber guy is more handsome than I'm On Fire guy. I guess that's okay?

Well that's something. I can tell from the periodic times when he's playing, that he knows how to play properly based on his technique.
Heston would approve
He does love amelodic free jazz.

Re: Return of the Mighty Observations Thread

https://youtu.be/wav1HjTCfvM?si=MrgG22ntHsQNPJGe This doubtless reflects my ignorance of those huge cargo ships, but how does one of those things end up so close to a bridge support? They aren’t going that fast at that point, no? You steer for the middle, right? Given that these things don’t happen...

Re: The Trump observations thread

To be fair, he was right. The man knows his base. Call me a horrible person but I think we would be in a better place if a few of the Republicans met an untimely demise on Jan 6. It certainly would have forced the impeachment/removal issue instead of McConnell dragging it out so it didn’t matter an...

Re: Am I a Hobo?

The Richard Scarry wiki has a great write up on that character and his two friends known as "The Beggars": The Three Beggars - Wolfgang Wolf, Benny Baboon, and Harry Hyena - are a trio of layabouts who spend their time lazing in the sun, eating, fishing, or even getting into trouble. On one occasio...

Re: I can't stand the blues

One thing I miss about Maj and Kaleb's podcast from like 10 years ago was Kaleb occasionally mentioning old blues tracks that I ended up really enjoying:

Re: I hear you knockin' but you can't come in

Usually yes. I mentioned the home invasion across the street the other month. We aren't in a rough part of Oakland, but we are in a transitional neighborhood - one way gets nice, the other way gets not nice. There have been gunshots outside our house (both times were at parties), my license plate go...

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?

Taking a red eye to listen to people talk about a semi obscure Bruce album and fly back early the next day was probably the nerdiest Bruce thing I've ever done.

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?

Am I reading this right, did Hoy go to a symposium about bruce sprinklebean that was full of Chicos? Yep. I couldn't miss a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of my favorite Springsteen album! Is that like a Star Trek convention for Bruce fans? Does one need to pay for that sort of abuse? Kind of....

I thought that was Maury Chaykin from the photo. I guess he died 14 years ago. Oops.

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?

You get older but will forever be in the lowest percentile in terms of age of the people at the show. Unsurprisingly, the symposium I went to in October, I was the only person under like 60 there other than some of the speakers kids/grandkids. Not just the age shit, but I feel like I very very rela...

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?

Got Bruce next Thursday  First time seeing him since 2016 and 13th time overall. Debating on going to the second show on the following Sunday. Might be the last chance to see him for me, but money is tight and the ticket ain't cheap. You get older but will forever be in the lowest percentile ...
