Re: Hey Flex (All Encompassing 90's Glorification)

Counterpoint: how is depriving a drummer of his kit and relegating him to aimless wandering anything but a net positive? Some people think drummers should be actively humiliated like that. I understand the argument, but I lean toward shunning them as the lepers they are. Any pleasure derived from s...

Re: Hey Flex (All Encompassing 90's Glorification)

Rolling Stone recently had a couple of articles diving into what a mess Live is. I actually saw them live on their Throwing Copper tour because I wanted to see Weezer who were opening up for them. The highlight of the evening was bumping into Jerry Harrison. One of the guys who went with us (friend...

Re: The Thread to Ruminate About Mike Love's Rape Van

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuYeV2bV0P0 This is fucking weird. You got some cool shit like Ray Charles doing Sail on Sailor and the Joe Piscapo doing a Springsteen parody/impersonation. The 80s were fucking weird. And Bruce plays his stupid Disney song. Everly Bros on it too and pretty solid. I ...

Re: Bagel

I had a friend in college who pronounced them "beg-els" and it was super frustrating. Cousin's wife is from Minnesota and says that. It's her ridiculous midwest accent that is to blame. This person was from Florida! Is this like a speech impediment thing? Isn't that "Warshington" too? Or is that re...

Re: Hey Flex (All Encompassing 90's Glorification)

Oddly, I never noticed how completely ridiculous the drummer is in this video until somewhat recently. He has no kit so he just wanders around the set aimlessly. Who thought this was a good idea?

Re: The Capital Radio EP-Beaconsfield Film dilemma

More to add to the London's Burning (Live/Mono) B-side. This track is supposed to be the take from the promo shoot. However it must've had further work done to it. As the B-side version starts with the "London's Burning" line followed by Joe singing "All across the town, all across the night". The ...

Re: No, No, Don't Worry. Sexism is Pretty Much Over.

Don’t really know where else to put this—I don’t think there’s an Attn Hoy thread—but my punk class just finished up a discussion of queercore, which ended up, at one point, discussing identifying categories on grindr. And twink came up, so I mentioned the joke here about Hoy as a former twink. I l...

Re: The Growing Old Kinda Sucks thread

I was at the grocery store this morning, wandering around, and this very young girl standing at one of the checkout lines kept eyeballing me. She said hi as I was walked past her, heading for the self-checkout. I felt someone behind me. Before I had a chance to empty the contents of my bag to check...

Re: Greatest (Favorite) Live Album

https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.nugs.net/assets/bs/images/shows/bs780707_01.jpg The live archive releases of the last six or seven years have fortunately made Bruce's problematic Live 75/85 irrelevant. Roxy 78 has always been my favorite from his vital Darkness tour for the immediacy of the audienc...

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?

You gotta demand it like the blonde lady in the commercial He should just tell the doctor his case of covid is so bad that he's lost his sense of taste and now thinks "Throwing Copper" is good album. More of a Secret Samadi guy? Btw, wife is negative and I’m nearly negative. Finally had both kids b...
