Re: movies

I think I’ve only not seen H5 and... Here's a little taste for next year's viewing of H5. https://youtu.be/P9TYnGFbxm4 Made my way through this in like four sittings watching a low res youtube upload. Zero regrets because the movie is terrible and a higher resolution/shelling out $4 for the rental ...

Re: MLB 2024

Baseball's shittiest park somehow becomes shittier: https://ca.news.yahoo.com/hurricane-milton-rips-off-roof-120410341.html I went to a game in like 2003 there. Whenever Canseco was on the team. It was really shitty back then. When I had to go back to Tampa a bunch in the last couple years, I was s...

Re: LOT #535: 1980 "The Clash" RARE Epic Records “Sandinista!” Promo Book

We are waiting for 2030 hoping it will be included in the 50th anniversary edition Congratulations on your patience! As a reward, the 2030 re-release will include a special 40-minute remix of 'Stop the World' honestly I'd love that. but its more likely we get an extended uncut version of outside bo...

Re: Wildlife Encounters

Yikes! Like you, I love spiders—can’t ever never ever kill them—but at a certain size they go from cool to unsettling. I’m gonna say a body (not counting legs) of more than a square cm or half an inch. I put mine in the basement. They can do whatever they want down there. Yup, so do I. I read somew...

Re: Wildlife Encounters

Some recent spider drama. Small compared to Rev’s Costa Rican friends. First spider crawled out of my daughter’s backpack. I eventually sucked him up with a vacuum and tossed him into outdoor trash bin. A few days later he or more likely, another guy showed up in our house. Sucked him up again and t...

Re: "I said-a hip, hop, the hippie, the hippie" - The Hip Hop Thread

My seminar is discussing a bunch of articles on hip hop tomorrow. I always have students write in advance an informal response piece—just a single page—about the readings so that I can take the temperature of the class in advance. Anyway, one young woman referred to "the fuck the police song." Ador...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

I think Wally was the biggest Coldplay defender and I was second. So I guess that makes me first now. Even still, my "defense" of the band was "first few albums are pretty good and some of the singles after are pretty good." Time to give these new songs a spin. I'm hoping this is one of those issue...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Ew, "We Pray" is bad. Tacking on these young rapper features feels so forced and even Chris Martin attempts a delivery similar to Burna Boy's. It's not like it's that catchy either to make up for this embarrassing attempt at cultural relevance. "JUPiTER" came on after, it wasn't an SNL song, but it'...

Re: The *ugh* 2024 US Election Thread

RFK Jr. has had multiple fuck buddies this year? Say it ain't so, Bob. Say it ain't so. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/rfk-jr-women-olivia-nuzzi-affairs-b2623357.html This is a bit of victim blaming, but come on, if you are marrying a Kennedy, you have to know what yo...
