We only lock up if we’re leaving town for a few days.

Re: What Are you Eating Right Now?

Was the chicken suspended in a sauce or marinade? If so, I'd have eaten it too. Hmm you certainly come across as sensible in person. I trust my nose. It must have reeked of sulfur after sitting around that long. 9 hours in a salt brine at 60 degrees and then slow roasted. Sounds delicious. I'm on M...

Re: Middle age health thread for fatties

This is really good to know. I really want to try yoga and I was worried that it would make things worse for my shoulder. I think it really boils down to finding the right class. If there are a bunch of 95 pound women who look desperate for a full mean and arrived in a Porsche SUV then I would reco...

Re: Middle age health thread for fatties

Do you go somewhere or do it at home. I was thinking of youtubing some tai chi I do a class at the Y or we have an old mill nearby with a studio. I think you could get by with the youtube vids or I am sure there is an app you could get. I like the in person classes so I can look up and see what I a...

Re: Middle age health thread for fatties

Anyone do o eve try Tai Chi? Not tai chi, but I attained a black belt in a hapkido-adjacent martial art. It's a pretty damn good workout that I'd recommend. I think I need something more meditative and less joint impactful. I hear its good for reducing stress and that's what I need / am looking for...

Re: MLB 2024

Worthy honors for the 2 homegrown Mets who helped heal the franchise from the departure of Tom Seaver 6 years earlier and gave us fans hope. The fact that they later went on to more glory with the (gasp) Yankees only adds to their legacies that began with those great Mets teams of the mid 1980's. h...

Re: Football season USA

We were in NYC this past weekend. Not wanting to miss the Green Bay / Dallas game, I searched "Green Bay Packers bars in NYC" and ended up at a place called the Kettle of Fish in Greenwich Village. The bar itself is famous (though the location has changed a couple of times). It was popular with the...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

The Boss, blanking on Ice-T's name, called him "Icy Pants." That might stick for me. I was on the same flight as Ice-T once and I overhead the flight attendants talking about him. "That's Ice Cube" one of them said and the other nodded knowingly When I worked in Manhattan they used a conference roo...

Re: Beaner's and Rattie's Weather Porn Thread

First major snow. Got thru the initial shovelling just as the snow turned to sleet. Tomorrow morning is going to be a hellscape. How's the wind? I raced down and back to drop my son at college before the storm hit. Weve gotten a decent bit of snow since I got back. Wind is supposed to get rea...

Re: When one plus one equals negative fun! The talented-but-shitty bands thread

Id argue that with Chris Cornell involved, Audioslave should have been even worse than they were. Is Cornell/Soundgarden like your weird intense hatred of the Pumpkins? My correct hatred of both? Yes. (I like Soundgarden's SST and sub pop releases) I saw Smashing Pumpkins back in the day, most bori...

Ha, apparently Steve Gadd is also on that track (you see him in the video briefly as well). So if Ringo is on it, he's probably completely superfluous.
I went to high school with Steve Gadd's daughter. She was a knockout.
