Re: Mick Jones late period Clash gear

Fender gifted Mick a Strat prior to the making of London Calling. While doing the research that led to this knowledge, I read that Mick had never been seen playing the Gibson ES 295 rockabilly guitar commonly associated with that record (and part of recent London exhibition) live. Maybe not withThe...

Re: Mick Jones late period Clash gear

I was listening to This is Big Audio today and was gonna post here about the Bond guitar. Is Mick using that guitar pretty exclusively on that record? Love the chicken scratch rhythm sounds on medicine show and the big chorus-y sound on bottom line. I assume he also was using a Mesa boogie but it s...

Re: Mick Jones late period Clash gear

Great thread! Albeit one I don't feel I have sufficient depth of knowledge to be able to contribute much to. Particularly interested to hear Mick often played Strats in the studio. Is my memory playing tricks on me, or did the Electraglide get a brief unveiling in Clash colours? I feel like I might...

Re: Mick Jones late period Clash gear

As a guitarist myself, I've studied Mick's rig pretty intensively to the best of my abilities, as there aren't many great pictures nor did he ever really talk about what he used. Mostly on record it was a Strat, they give a really good tone on studio recording. Personally, I feel better than a Gibso...

Re: Boots Galore - The Request Line

An odd request, as I know there are currently no tapes existing out there of the Sydney shows, but is there anyone with some connections in Australia that could get possibly get a tape? I've always found it insane that out of the 10 nights, with 7 in one city, they played in the country, only 1 show...

Re: Boots Galore - The Request Line

Looking for a couple shows. First one is the soundboard source for the last Theatre Mogador show. I know it isn't that good for a soundboard but it's something I remember enjoying when I had it long ago. Second would be the Royal Court, Liverpool show from 81. It's in that guitar101 bootleg thread, ...

Re: My semi-annual plea for Rat Patrol, part 27

And meanwhile the Jam, the Beatles, The Who and just about every other classic band empty their vaults for the fans. How the Clash haven't had deluxe versions of all their albums is quite frustrating. The problem is other than the Rat Patrol mixes there isn't a lot else that's not been released. I'...

Re: some BAD...

Anyone able to get this one off the Dime? It is a show we already have, the 1018 Club show but from what I can tell it's an alt audience source, including a full 1999. The version Esmark has on here cuts off after 2 and a half minutes. http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-deta ... ?id=638687

Re: Sudden Impact Cover

Sounds great guys!! Really like the video made for it as well. Quick question though, where'd that live footage come from? Think I saw that once on Youtube years back, but it's since long gone.

Re: B.A.D. Observations Thread

Found a couple samples today, from the film Pixote. Mentioned on Esmark's site for the Sambadrome samples that some are from the film and I went through it and found em. First one happens at around 17:20, then the second one is at around 39:45.

Re: B.A.D. Observations Thread

I've known that for ages. Plus those samples were all listed on our friend esmark BAD site. That one was never on Esmark's site. No entry for A Party on there. Ahh ok mate. I'm just really familiar with the movie Zulu and thought those chants were well known as used on the track. I've been BAD samp...

Re: B.A.D. Observations Thread

I've finally figured out part of a BAD sample that has driven me crazy for years. It's the first part of the sample at about 2:20 into A Party. Just before the voice takes over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODM1RJe4FvQ From the movie Zulu, happens about 5:20 in the video. Now to just figure out w...

Re: The Clash observations thread.

Finally got the London Calling Scrapbook, having to order it on Amazon after waiting and waiting for it to come from the official site. One thing I noticed towards the end were a couple write-ups of the UK/US 16 Tons tour from Paul and Joe. I was really surprised to see that Broadway and Sheppard's ...

Re: Marky Dread Remasters

Your remaster sounds great, Marky, thank you very much. I'm in love with this show. I put it second to Hong Kong for best of the tour. Really wish more would come from this tour, especially that whole residency in Sydney. This is Radio Clash rocks on this one, really love the kind of free-form style...

Re: Boots Galore - The Clash MEGALIST (reloaded)

I would prefer the Marky remaster if possible. Weren't you working on this mate? Yep it's done mate. I've just got to separate the tracks and tag them. I'll send it off to Laxman on Monday via a data stick. Then our friend will upload it as I've no internet as yet. Cheers. Excellent, I'm waiting fo...
