Re: Bonds Footage

I just looked at BMC and it seems we finally have footage! Two videos, one is an alt shot from behind the camera of Mag 7 on the Tom Snyder show. It's the full song finally, no cut at the end. The more exciting bit is from June 2nd, mostly full Mag 7 shot from the crowd. The audio is dubbed with th...

Re: The Clash and Friends

Didn't they play Joe Ely's 'Fingernails' with him once, when he was support act. EDIT - in fact, yes, at the Monterey show where the above picture was taken EDIT EDIT - Marky thinking along the same lines and beat me to it Looks like they did it six times, I assume only with Ely. Monterey is a good...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

I did notice that the Futura 2000 version on this is a recorded version of what he'd sing with them live during Paris and London, so that's pretty cool to have that. The Escapades have completely different lyrics. I dig this version a lot more. Edit: Going back to Marky's Rat Patrol compilation, I r...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

It would have been nice to hear the original Ear takes of OBF and GD and anything else that got reworked in New York. Same here. There are a lot of demos I wanted to hear. Here's the sessionography compiled by matedog: https://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12475#p559430 April 1981 Studio...

Re: CLASH STAGE BACKDROPS

81-82 (maybe 83?) used the image slideshow for the backdrop, but only with specific songs. From what I've read and seen for videos and pictures, it seems songs like Guns of Brixton, Mag 7, Ivan Meets G.I. Joe, Charlie Don't Surf, Radio Clash, Call Up, Somebody Got Murdered, Straight to Hell, Armagid...

Re: some BAD...

New source of a BAD II gig from Lord Zonka himself. Nearly full recording of the show at the Riveira in Chicago 1991. Per him, only thing missing is 1999 at the end, but it has his full DJ intro + his full intermission. Unfortunately he only posted it on Soundcloud, but there are sites out there to ...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

Nice. This is the B-side vocal put over the instrumental version? That's my understanding yeah. Hopefully he can pop on and confirm. Yes, he confirmed in the other thread. Isolated the vocal from the b side and laid over the rock version. Cheers, so you are calling the second instrumental the "rock...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

Hello, I have an odd question, no doubt one that has been asked before, but did the Clash ever perform Cool Confusion live? Is there a bootleg? Nope though that would have been interesting for sure! They did Know Your Rights, Car Jamming, Should I Stay, Casbah, STH, Overpowered, Ghetto D and Inocul...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

I wonder if we'll finally hear those four mystery songs from that tracklisting that was in that documentary years back. Very excited to see what we get.

Re: Return of the Great Consumer // Return of Great Montezuma ??

Sounds like Return of the Great Mazuma Would certainly fit with the theme for the song. I've only ever been able to figure out the chorus: In for a penny In for a pound Money stolen Can't be found Money makes the world go around Money makes the sweetest sound I will say another name that I believe ...

Re: new complete February 25, 1982, Hong Kong

I always enjoyed this show so much cause it felt like they decided for the night (and Melbourne as well) to go back to the 16 Tons Tour style of "play professional, but play everything fast." Almost a last big hoorah before they went back to play things at a slower pace. The show is at a constant hi...

Re: The Clash Studio Logs/Sessionography

Ahh yep gotcha.. the harmonised "judgement day" do indeed sound like Mick and Den to my ears. And those backing vocals on the "after all this time" do indeed sound like Topper. It's not Tymon as there is no wavering in the vocal. Here's a quick remix where you can hear those high vocals more clearl...

Re: The Clash Studio Logs/Sessionography

Yep that "Judgement Day" backing vocal is Mick. I think River means the vocal harmony on the chorus, "after all this time etc", I'm sure I once read it was Topper. And I thought the "judgement day" bits were Den Hegarty from Darts? Mick may also have backed those bits up as they are harmonised, but...

Re: The Clash Studio Logs/Sessionography

With Tymon just brought up, something I've been curious about recently. Who does the high backing vocals on "The Sound of the Sinnners" ? During the choruses, there's the vocal going along with Joe that certainly doesn't sound like Mick to my ears at least. I've at this point guessed it's either som...
