Yeah, and when tragedy strikes on such a scale, it's really helpful to turn to a black and white system of judgement.

I haven't read any of this thread, but I agree with the following:

Just to be clear -- my problem is with the fact that gross oversimplifications are a disservice. Radical Islam is a convenient menace, as communism was before it, that too often proves to be lazy shorthand for any real consideration and thinking.
