Re: It stirs...
All this joking around is well and good, but why aren't we all applying by sending our demo tapes and overflowing his mailbox with crap?

Re: EET YEAR!
Your assigned scripture for this year: (Luke 9:12-17) [12] And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto Him, We long for the prairie, oh the wild frontier. For we are in a deserted place, and are in need of food. [13] But He said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they ...

Re: So...what did Paul actually play on?
Norman told me personally that he played on 16 tracks on Sandinista. So...less than a third? So what sort of shit arithmetic do you get in the north east of England? 16 out of 36 is nearly... a half, or something like that. Heston lives in the quasi hell where there was a side seven and eigh...

I know it's shat upon here, but I really dig his playing on TGTB&TQ.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote:I don't know but his live playing with the Gorillaz was very cool. It's funny/interesting that a musician can improve while not actually playing very much in the interim.

Re: So...what did Paul actually play on?
Perhaps this thread was started in response to the discussion in the multitracks one—it's clear to me that Paul is not on Lost in the Supermarket. That line is way too tight. I would be disappointed, however, to learn definitively that this happened too frequently outside of S!. I know that it doesn...

Re: "Rudie Can't Fail" - vocals only
It's obvious that Paul did indeed play on at least some of the songs... . Could you elaborate? What parts are distinctly Paul? I was referencing the old chestnut that Paul is rumored to not have played on any of the recordings. The timing is so off on the Rudie bassline that it has to be him . That...

I dunno, I think those paintings look pretty good, at least from a distance.

I DL'ed the super deluxe set (available to listen on Spotify, by the way), and the demos are fantastic. Also, you can actually hear what the fuck Paul is singing.

I just finished Viv Albertine's autobio and she reminisces about being in art school with Graham, where he was known as "Groovy Graham."

One of my favorite jazz albums of all time and so well composed. It's definitely one of the brainiest jazz discs of the mid-60s.

I will check it out. I just got my Tearwave CDs in the mail—those are some very humorous looking folks, considering the kind of music they play.Dr. Medulla wrote:The Big Pink is another quality contemporary shoegaze band. A Brief History of Love will knock your socks off.

Re: Currently watching.
Last of my Black Mirror hyping. "The Waldo Moment" was rather tame and lame and obvious. It lacked the punch of most of the other episodes, of projecting future horrors on plausible emerging technology, in favour of something that seems entirely possible today. More cranky than unnerving. The recen...

Re: Return of the Mighty Observations Thread
A rant: So, I've started teaching this class and I wanted to give students the option of submitting assignments electronically (a pdf). The school has purchased some software that is meant to facilitate that kind of online hoo-ha but it is the most ri-goddamned-iculous and counter-intuitive piece o...
