Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?
Hello, I have an odd question, no doubt one that has been asked before, but did the Clash ever perform Cool Confusion live? Is there a bootleg? Nope though that would have been interesting for sure! They did Know Your Rights, Car Jamming, Should I Stay, Casbah, STH, Overpowered, Ghetto D and Inocul...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?
I wonder if we'll finally hear those four mystery songs from that tracklisting that was in that documentary years back. Very excited to see what we get.

Re: Return of the Great Consumer // Return of Great Montezuma ??
Sounds like Return of the Great Mazuma Would certainly fit with the theme for the song. I've only ever been able to figure out the chorus: In for a penny In for a pound Money stolen Can't be found Money makes the world go around Money makes the sweetest sound I will say another name that I believe ...

Re: new complete February 25, 1982, Hong Kong
I always enjoyed this show so much cause it felt like they decided for the night (and Melbourne as well) to go back to the 16 Tons Tour style of "play professional, but play everything fast." Almost a last big hoorah before they went back to play things at a slower pace. The show is at a constant hi...

Re: The Clash Studio Logs/Sessionography
Ahh yep gotcha.. the harmonised "judgement day" do indeed sound like Mick and Den to my ears. And those backing vocals on the "after all this time" do indeed sound like Topper. It's not Tymon as there is no wavering in the vocal. Here's a quick remix where you can hear those high vocals more clearl...

Re: The Clash Studio Logs/Sessionography
Yep that "Judgement Day" backing vocal is Mick. I think River means the vocal harmony on the chorus, "after all this time etc", I'm sure I once read it was Topper. And I thought the "judgement day" bits were Den Hegarty from Darts? Mick may also have backed those bits up as they are harmonised, but...

Re: The Clash Studio Logs/Sessionography
With Tymon just brought up, something I've been curious about recently. Who does the high backing vocals on "The Sound of the Sinnners" ? During the choruses, there's the vocal going along with Joe that certainly doesn't sound like Mick to my ears at least. I've at this point guessed it's either som...

Re: Synths/Drum Machines used by the Clash
Do we know if the lead synth lines on Sean Flynn, Idle In Kangaroo Court & Cool Confusion are a guitar synth or a keyboard synth? I know Mick had used the Roland SPV & the GR707 guitar synths but the meter of those synth lines don't sound like something you'd play on guitar. The drones on STH, Atom...

Re: Synths/Drum Machines used by the Clash
For any nerds, more info on what I assume is the Roland SVP that Mick was using... https://www.joness.com/gr300/sound-on-sound-roland-svp-355.htm It’s a very odd synth to use. It’s a relatively early guitar synth so it’s tracking doesn’t act like you’d expect (or hope.) The 707 can track all 6 stri...

I think I've listened to the album, or parts of it, at least once a day for the past week. I can't get enough of it!

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate
If you want to stump your drummer friends, give them a pair of headphones and ask them to play along with Topper on Red Angel Dragnet. No where does he earn the "human drum machine" title more than on that. I sat with the drummer in my band on Friday night listening to this song and discussed that ...

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate
The transition from Atom Tan into First Night Back in London with the synth note fading in and cutting off is perfect. It might be just how I cut when I got the original file but it's so good. Inoculated City is the absolute highlight for me. It's very easy to tell it had the most work put into it. ...
