Mescaleros on Later with Jools Holland
Is this set available anywhere? I believe it's from 1999 but can't see it anywhere. I have one track on a compilation dvd, which makes me wonder if the rest of the tracks are available to download on video too? Any ideas?

Re: Kiss vs the Dolls
I might be showing my age, but when Kiss were first heard of in the UK they were referred to as an American 'Slade in make-up' and the Dolls were referred to as an American 'Faces in make-up' which still sounds like fair definitions to me, given that I prefer the Faces to Slade and the Dolls to Kiss.

Re: Tep's Music Trivia - 2011
Oops, sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant 'UK band' which puts paid to the Carpenters, and also meant 'seventies' when I said Phil was still hitting things, which kicks the Dave Clark Five out too. Does this narrow things down enough?

Re: Tep's Music Trivia - 2011
Which band with a singing drummer had major UK chart success in the singles chart when Phil was still just hitting things?

They forgot to let their drummer sing "Octopus's Garden" before they split, silly boys. Still, let it be, let it be.

Words of advice for OU requested.
If anyone has studied through the Open University can they pm me please? I'm starting a course on my 51st birthday! I've never had myself down as a historian, but after half a century I suppose I've lived through enough to look at things before. Any advice would be great and much appreciated. The in...

Re: 10/10 Perfect Songs
I'm glad to see 'Rip It Up' by Orange Juice has been mentioned in one list, although 'What Presence?!' is a relatively undiscovered classic for most folk. However, 'A Girl Like You' by Edwyn Collins stands head, shoulders and dodgy quiff above all pretenders to the throne. My twist is a totally bias...

Re: :-(
I had a pet Guinea pig named after my hero and was walking into town on the first day of my Christmas holidays that year. My mobile rang, my wife calling from her work, no doubt about to say something along the lines of, "what are you up to? I bet you're off down the Phoenix!" Instead she said, "Str...
