Re: Clash covers
Not many people cover 'I'm Not Down' but Theo Gilmore does something special with it.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?
Not sure if shared before but a 2022 interview with Glyn Johns about Combat Rock can be read here... https://thenewcue.substack.com/p/the-new-cue-160-may-16-40-years-of-844 "Bernie Rhodes wanted to chop guitarist Mick Jones’ mix into something less unwieldy." Yes but Bernie you're the manager so sh...

Re: The David Bowie is God Thread
I fancied getting the 'Divine Symmetry' box, 4cd & blu ray, and saw the Amazon price. I got in contact with my local shop, Thirteen Records in Dundee (there's a Big Star in the window) and they are matching the price. Great folk in the shop, and good to spend the money in my locality.

Re: Previously unreleased footage, NYC May/June 1981
Not sure what the gaffer tape on his chest is meant to signify? It looks like the tape is holding something in the middle. What that something is, I don't know. My very first thought was that it was his mic. :?: Ah, no wonder the tv execs hated those punks. They never wore ties you could attach the...

Waking Up rip?
Does anyone have a good quality rip of 'Waking Up'? I tried playing my vinyl copy and it's pretty knackered and am wary about looking for another copy. I looked for a cd, but couldn't see a copy available.

Incredible Marky! Many thanks, that's my listening for quite a while sorted out. Mind you, I don't know where to begin!

Love the Joboxers. A few personal favs from '83: Orange Juice - Rip It Up Yazoo - Nobody's Diary Robert Wyatt - Shipbuilding Blancmange - Waves Flash and the Pan - Waiting on a Train Joan Armatrading - Drop the Pilot Personally, I'd put the "year the music died" a good bit later, or the year I just...

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
That's a good point about adding to the catalog. And I agree, the cover of Rudi is great. In fact, I like most of the covers that the band played. Given how many times they've re-released the three Mescaleros albums though, seems like a live album would be a good way to keep the fans buying product...

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
It's also just odd that of 9 songs released from that show across two record labels, all but one have been a cover! Why!?
I've wondered that myself. Why shy away from live versions of the Mescaleros tracks? I was hoping 002 would include a full live gig or two.
I thought the fact ...

Excellent idea how soon will you have it ready? 😏 10-15 years I imagine Rubbish! I reckon I could do it in 9.🤣 I'll be 70 Punk rock is not for people who like old time dancing. ;) In 9 years I'll be 70 as well, I don't like old time dancing. Mind you, that might be pogoing given my age. I don't lik...

Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon
It's something fans have had for years. It's on YouTube. It would've been nicer to see something that hasn't been so widely shared. The upload/YouTube clip is already in great quality. I've remastered it for inclusion in the Joe box I'm putting together. I've always enjoyed the set, even if 'Jonco ...

Re: Boots Galore - The Clash MEGALIST (reloaded)
Not a patch on Marky's work of courses but those JEMS master tapes transfers are usually pretty high quality for the kind of minimal touch up work that's allowed on trading sites. Yeah they are. I've got a few other JEMS tapes all solid. Though I think they have had a little post work on them. I'm ...
