Re: Whatcha reading?
I was going to read Infinite Jest, and then I decided not to. I started it last year for the third time. It was fine reading at the outset but I moved on to other things yet again. I have a hard time getting into books that are really descriptive. I don't need to know all these details, my brain ca...

Amazing pic. What is it, red tailed hawk or some class of hawk anyway I'm guessing? Majestic creature.

Re: Debate Me: “Now Then...” is the best Stiff Little Fingers record
I don't mind anthemic music in the slightest. But the atmosphere of a small venue versus that of a stadium is a no brainer really. Definitely for me anyway. So many of my favourite local venues have disappeared over the past number of years, though, and dont get replaced, but upside is i've noticed...

Re: Debate Me: “Now Then...” is the best Stiff Little Fingers record
I love a certain anthemic quality in my music. But I know what you’re saying, sometimes this can come across as incredibly contrived like Bon Jovi. That being said, Live Forever comes across as one of the most sincere, life affirming songs I’ve ever heard. Never fails to lift me up. Cant say there ...

Re: Debate Me: “Now Then...” is the best Stiff Little Fingers record
I mean the level of artistry is so much higher with Suede. Dog Man Star is fucking masterpiece of a record. It’s like this hazy drug infused underworld of sound. The entire thing is just smothered in lush reverb too. I love it. Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are amazing classic albums. Super ov...

Re: Debate Me: “Now Then...” is the best Stiff Little Fingers record
Suede is about the only britpop band of that era I listen to consistently often (I think the Manics accidentally got lumped in for a while there). And then with Oasis and Blur being the least interesting to me overall. I mean the level of artistry is so much higher with Suede. Dog Man Star is fucki...

Re: Poll Lotta Rosie
Back in Black probably has the best quality tracks but Highway is far more consistently good if that makes sense. I know angus gets the lions share of the credit musically but for me its the rhythm that makes AC/DC and Highway is the best exponent of it, opening groove to last. It's very simple and ...

Re: Poll: Best Song From The Survivor Poll Winners
I suppose it's just personal preference. I listen to the radio throughout the day, though a lot of the time it's little more than a backing track to whatever other task I'm performing. Yrs, male multi tasking does actually exist, if only on a passive level! But i would agree with the sense of their ...

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMfwKRcM_kS/?igshid=1v5mhxve0yvry That reminds me of a piece i read recently that mentioned some hit maker around mid last century, part of whose modus operanda was to trawl around the record companies gathering rejected tracks he could then, with a few cosmetic changes,...

Re: Shane McGowan 'Crock of Gold' Docu
Actually quite enjoyed the doc which surprised me a bit only because i'd seen quite a few negative reviews of it. The likes of Depp, Adams, Gillespie etc added nothing to the narrative i felt, but i guess they thought it might be a way of getting some coherent up to date contributions from Shane in ...

Re: Debate Me: “Now Then...” is the best Stiff Little Fingers record
Interesting post. I do like a lot of the songs on Now Then but there's no way it ever compared to the 3 before it. They are 4 great albums though and i agree it gets a little bit patchy beyond that. Go For It always been my favourite followed by Inflammable and NH. Roots and Safe As Houses both defi...

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
Have listened to Carnage just the once. First impression was I'm gonna like this album a lot after 2 or 3 more listens but almost certainly not as much as Ghosteen.
