If you want to hear some great BB covers with Joe on vocals, check out some of the Mescaleros gigs from 2001.

But then I listened to the full show, soundboard, 16 tunes, "remastered" by sonnyburnit. It's from the same source as the 7 tracks but to my ears, the remastering has added way too much bass (60 - 100Hz) and ruined it a bit. There's now this background rumble throughout.
I tried undoing the damage (Wavelab, Voxengo EQ) but the original still sounds better.

Soooo..... is it possible to get hold of the original full recording somewhere, UN-remastered?
Try this.

By the way there was two attempts at cleaning up the sound one by myself and one by sonnyburnit mine had less bass than Sonny's but most folk seemed to like sonny's best however i'm convinced mine has been used on the bootleg available from here : http://www.rednotebeats.com/The%20Clash ... terdam.htm.

Cheers MD.
Thanks for that.
Unfortunately the mp3s have a real...mp3 quality about them, if you know what I mean.
In fact, sonnyburnit's remaster sound like he's used the mp3s as the source. The top end has a "distorted wall of high-hat" effect, whereas on the 7 songs source it's still kinda clear.

Ah well, can't complain, it's still great to hear vintage Clash.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

There is a great version of Police & Thieves/Blitzkrieg Bop on the promo cd which was released many years ago. Uncredited on the cover, it appears as a 'hidden' track after a few minutes, and is well worth the wait. Columbia must have loads of material in their archives which would be a worthwhile addition to a great back catalogue, and an Off Broadway 3 or 4 cd of interesting live material, demos, and other items I perhaps haven't dreamt of, would be far better value than The Singles box, beautiful though it was.

I downloaded Scandinavium, Gothenburg 1980-05-24 twice, but sadly track 21 and 24 are corrupted and can't be opened. Any chance for an additional fix with these two tracks? MANY THANKS in advance!

First, use the links from the "Remastered" megalist on the top of the page. Secondly, If you are having trouble unzipping every file as I had odd issues uploading some shows, use this program: http://www.7-zip.org/. It will note an error in the unzip process but it will still unzip the file flawlessly.
