Lost from the boards?

Post by dave202 »

I am sure that a few years ago I was able to find links to Dylan live material, and I certainly have a 90 second shot of him doing "London Calling" to the disbelief of the audience and fans by the sound of things. Does anyone know of any such links? Springsteen and Costello have both covered the same songs, have they done any other Clash related covers that anyone knows of?

Not that I'm aware of.

If someone has a Bruce cover of White Riot, please don't post it.

Are you afraid it would be better than the original?

Bruce did IFTL, but it was the Bobby Fuller arrangement (he picked it up around the same time as the Clash). With Clarence he could do a mean Sean Flynn cover. He also covered Suicide recently, but that's about as close as it gets.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
