Divorcing jack
Divorcing jack
Is the version of this song on the Generations comp the best quality available?
Re: Divorcing jack
I don't recognize the song title, and it's not on Generations.
Can you clarify?

Re: Divorcing jack
Sorry for the confusion, I am new on this forum. The song Divorcing Jack is from a soundtrack back 1998 and was never released however I think it was played on the BBC in the year after Joe's death. It's on the very cool Generations comp created by I Hate Usernames. The link for that download is listed in the Strummer Galore topic at the top of the Sound of Sinners forum. This is not the same as the officially released Generations CD with Electric Doghouse and a bunch of other artists although it does have the song on it. Anyway, since the song was b-cast on the radio, I thought there might be a better quality version out there.

I've only the radio broadcast myself. Sorry, dudemeister.

How is the sound quality on your version? Any chance you could upload it? I think maybe the problem with the version I've heard is that the song has been sampled down quite a bit for mp3. Thanks in any case.

Turns out it got lost in the great hard drive purge of '09.danimal wrote:How is the sound quality on your version? Any chance you could upload it? I think maybe the problem with the version I've heard is that the song has been sampled down quite a bit for mp3. Thanks in any case.
Perhaps I can interest you in the Eels discography I replaced it with?

Ah, bummer. Damn hard drives. I've never heard the Eels but keep hearing of them. If you were to pick one album as a starter which would it be?

Re: Divorcing jack
I know the chronology.
It was a streaming media source. The entire show was encoded to mp3. I used mptrim to cut it down to strictly the portion of the song that was played, with like half a second of fade-in/out. The show itself, or maybe an article announcing it, states that the entire song was not played because of piracy concerns or some shit. Only the director of the film has the whole song. The quality degradation is inherent to our source, unfortunately.
At any rate it's more historical document than anything else. It's not a hell of a song or anything, just sorta cute.

Blinking Lights... but it's not very Clash-y at all, so I've no idea whether you'd like it personally.danimal wrote:Ah, bummer. Damn hard drives. I've never heard the Eels but keep hearing of them. If you were to pick one album as a starter which would it be?
