Super-Deluxe Clash Playlist

Post by slimeydave »

Ok, so I like the Clash. I decided to put together a playlist for my iPod so I would have the entire library of their officially release stuff in the order of it's release. I used http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Pa ... raphy.html that I found on the interweb to get the singles and such in the right order. I kept B-sides after the album the A-side was from to keep the album in it's proper order. Once I got to the later compilations like Broadway and Super Black Market, I just listed the tunes in the order they were on that album. I don't really have a purpose in this post, but if anyone has any comments or suggestions, I would appreciate it. Anyone spot anything I missed or want to debate the order? One thing I know is missing is Rocker's Galore. Is that posted anywhere here?

Don't forget Do It Now and Sex Mad Roar.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

"Fingerpoppon" 12" mix on the Lost treasures cd is good, a lot better than the CTC version

This all depends on how completist you want your list to be.

Nice list. How did you set that up on the ipod? As a playlist that just draws from your albums? If so, what is the total play time? Just curious.

There's also the live version of London's Burning which was used as a b-side to an early single, and Capital Air or whatever the fuck it's called that was released on an Allen Ginsburg collection. Oh, and isn't Bankrobber and Robber Dub mixed together as one track on Black Market Clash (not super) or something? That would be another one I guess...

I just made a standard playlist of everything and deleted the duplicates and started juggling around those from Broadway and Super black Market and such. Took a while.
I like being able to listen to the gradual evolution through the ages. :)

Grand Totals: 157 Songs 9.4 Hours 518.5 MB (128 kbs). This doesn't include any of the three or four I'm missing, though.

Pretty pissah collection, by the way. I love doing that kind of stuff with bands. Fun times.

And after wallowing in the joy of your Misfits and Sex Pistols ones, have to say that I love that you love doing that...
