The Sandinista! Project

Post by dave202 »

I've just been reading about this album which has been available to download free on a couple of occasions. Is it any good? I think quite a few of the songs on the original lend themselves to being covered, but some of side six might be asking too much. The album was put together by Jimmy Guterman who is the author of a Springsteen book, which puzzles me too. Should I look to purchase or what?

I thought it was a bit rubbish, to be honest.

I still play Silicone On Sapphire, Hitsville UK and Charlie Don't Surf occasionally, the rest were meh...

Best album ever. I consider it the best they ever did. I understand why many disagree with me on this point, but I can listen to it 24/7. It rocks!

The thread is about the 'cover' album, not Sandinista itself.

This is one of the very few (none other come to mind) cover albums worth the plastic they're made of. Hell, i even have Jon Langford's cover art sitting on my mantle...

Little known fact: Sandinista! itsef is actually just a cover album. The original was recorded by a very early 5 piece line-up of the band with Keith "El Libertador" Levene.
