Stiff Little Fingers

Post by noyield »

Anyone have any Stiff Little Fingers live stuff? I'm just getting into this band and I like what I hear.

There's a good bootleg on Marky's blog:

Also a couple here:

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Can I just take another opportunity to plug Now Then by SLF, I think it's one of the most underrated albums ever.
If you like melodic punk/pop with intelligent lyrics this is the album for you. It's just unfortunate they released it at a time when the British charts were all about New Romantics and make-up. Right album, wrong time.
Special mention to Dolphin Taylor, he's a drummer I've always loved and his work with Tom Robinson and Spear of Destiny is also top notch.

And can I just say that you only need the first two albums (Inflamable Material / Nobody's Heroes) and you will live happily ever after. Unless you want to get Hanx as well for the live feel. If you get the remastered albums there are some great singles thrown in.

Totally agree Heston. Some absolute classics on there that get overlooked - Is That Why You Fought The War, Touch And Go, Bits Of Kids, Big City Nights and I love their version of Love Of The Common People. Sadly they play very little of this live these days, Bits Of Kids now and again.

P.S. Coldplay are better than SLF.

How can you dig "Viva la Vida" and not "Go For It" are your ears full of dad rock or just volcanic rock?
