The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I hope you demonstrated proper respect to the music of Our Lord.

And it really sucks because Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy was good. They do a killer version of California Uber Alles for the Alternative Tentacles 100 album tribute. I too know a lot of people who like him. I don't get it at all.

A top album for me and his early Spearhead stuff was quality too

I agree with much of the above. I really liked the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. Some of Franti's early stuff was good. He's gone way too hippy.

I've always liked these two:gkbill wrote: ↑16 Aug 2022, 5:22pmHello,revbob wrote: ↑16 Aug 2022, 3:54pmA top album for me and his early Spearhead stuff was quality too

Never heard of this guy before. The song wasn’t very good. Reminded me of a lot of bland pop “make the world better” ballads we got a lot of 20 years like Black Eyed Peas “Where is the Love?” Or John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change.” Weird that this came out in 2019 and still not good.

For early Franti fans, check out Beatnigs if you haven't. Pre-disposable heroes, it was his industrial/punk/hip hop group. Did an early version of Television on it. One album on A.T. great stuff, impossible to reconcile that with the feel-good-music-for-hedge-fund-managers shit he pumps out now.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

It almost felt like a rewrite of that crappy Mayer song (yes I agree all his songs are shit not just that one).

Hello,
There's a new Buzzcocks album arriving 9/23. This is good news.

Still needs a teaspoon of racism. Season with veiled violence to taste.

Lars Ulrich is living the life of the guy in the joke who complains that he's built orphanages, won a Nobel prize and an Olympic medal, but you fuck one sheep ….
