So BSS is abysmal. I’ve known that for decades. In the bathroom at work has a radio and this song has come on twice. With the fan blasting, it cancels out the higher range of vocals and all I hear is the backing vocal. I had no idea who horribly monotone that backing vocal is. I knew how repetitive and monotone the song was, but hearing this backing track takes it to the next level of awfulness.
It's a mantra. A three part harmony mantra in places. That's the beauty of it, it's a replication of mundane day to day life in the form of music.
Ah yes the “the song is boring and repetitive because it’s about how life is boring and repetitive” explanation about how the song is somehow…good?

It's so funny how this divide is close to exactly Europe v the US. Not since Dolly Madison lead the American troops to victory in 1812 at the Battie of New Orleans...

I know I probably didn’t convince my fellow North Americans to hate BSS, but it feels that way. Like all the difficult positions I’ve nobly taken over the years and this is the ONE thing that caught on? I mean, I’m okay with that, I just think there were bigger fish to fry.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

You've taken the point on the topic, and that's appreciated. But it doesn't erase my disappointment that you backed Heston in his mad championing of WBTC.

Not to mention all that Phil Collins worship, this is a very fragile alliance.

There are no allegiances in this game, only temporary allies to later be stabbed in the throat.
