Lizz Winstead articulated my thoughts on this perfectly:

RIP Lemmy. You were a big part of every record collection of every guy I ever slept with.

(Well, except for my husband's).

St. Louis (well, white St. Louis) will riot.

Wow, the Clash *did* predict the future.

I guess I'm not the marrying type.

I used to go to the Rainbow before shows and was bummed I never saw him there. I'd probably just quote Airheads like every other stupid millenial born between 1982-1984 at him. Haven't dug into the catalog much, but Ace of Spades is unimpeachable.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Just read that the cancer that killed Lemmy was especially aggressive and was only diagnosed on Boxing Day. I've never heard of a such a brief time frame between diagnosis and death.

Yeah he must have been living with it and it was undetected. I've seen people go from looking normal and healthy and undiagnosed to gaunt and frail in a few months and dead by 6 months.

Lemmy had looked frail for some time. I downloaded a video of Motorhead about a year ago and he already looked very thin a shadow of his former self.
