Sounds uncannily like the FHTE version of London Calling...

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

This is just so heartfelt and majestic, maybe the most English song ever written. My favourite moment is when the lead vocal gets drowned out by what looks like 9 foot high trumpet at 1:16.

And I'm sure Ray is sincere about what the lyrics say, but I love how he's not capable of laying down a vocal that sounds earnest. That double meaning, piss taking sound enriches all their songs and makes em sound much more modern than most of their mainstream 60s peers.

"Echoes of the World" documentary now on YouTube. If you like the Village Green album this is a must watch.
