Great thread!
Fav song: a tie between Rake at the Gates of Hell, Misty Morning Albert Bridge, Rainy Night in Soho
Best album is If I should Fall, but have a soft spot for Peace and Love.

I love Rake at the Gates of Hell and the other stuff they did for the Straight To Hell soundtrack. That hillbilly version of If I Should Fall is actually better than the official version for me.Low Down Low wrote: ↑09 Aug 2017, 4:45pmGreat thread!

Re: The Pogues Thread
Even the last couple not that good albums are kinda good. Great band. RS&tL pretty much nailed it. All time album.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

Re: The Pogues Thread
Both very decent albums. Proved they didn't NEED Shane, though of course they were better with him in his prime. They were all very good songwriters, Jem Finer a great one.
Re: The Pogues Thread
Either Body of an American, or If I Should Fall from Grace with God. Both songs are superfun.

Did I ever share the inaugural and so far only chapter of my book about MacGowan's songs? It's from, I think, two years ago, but I will write the rest.

Re: The Pogues Thread
The last I heard about The Pogues is Shane injured his pelvis and it's taking a long time to heal. Plus his mother passed away.
Have you heard more?
