Right, I get that, but you still want your hero to be a better version of you, something to aspire to. And Morrissey's ardent love of celebrity is very traditional; he's no punk purist who wants to kill rock stars. So I can't imagine he wouldn't seek to promote idolatry amongst his fans.Kory wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 4:29pmI think one of the reasons people like him is that they feel they have in common with him the characteristic of being an awkward, introverted weirdo.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 4:20pmWeird for someone with the reputation for being a god to his most ardent fans. He always looked incredibly embarrassed when fans would jump on stage and hug him. But then to me it always felt staged and in reality he was loving it.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 4:56pmRight, I get that, but you still want your hero to be a better version of you, something to aspire to. I should also say that when this has been discussed I was fairly drunk Nd dont recall specifics. I did see pics. Basically the dude protecting Moz from overzealous fans on stage.

I remember how that poll vote went. We are surrounded by dubious characters here.revbob wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 7:15pmAs does any right minded person.
The only rumour that I really recall about Morrissey that countered his image was about his supposed celibacy. Which, duh, no huge shock there. And that he was gay. Which, again, isn't exactly shocking. But as I mentioned in my addendum my memories are somewhat hazy

I've read a number of sources that cite his having dated both men and women. Who knows the extent of that though.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 7:20pmI remember how that poll vote went. We are surrounded by dubious characters here.

If he were bisexual or pansexual, none of it would surprise. The celibacy thing and "I'll always be alone" are the only parts that come off as contrived.Kory wrote: ↑12 May 2022, 7:41pmI've read a number of sources that cite his having dated both men and women.
