Number of kids this year: 0. I thought we'd get a rebound after the covid-compromised years, but nope, nuthin'.

What, you can't win the neighborhood kids over with your dazzling smile?

I withdraw the observation and enter the following substitution: You guyses are mean.

Little Duder's first Halloween went well. We got to two neighbor's houses that were particularly excited to see the little guy. Then that seemed to be about enough for him. Weather was very mild so me and him and the missus hung out on the front porch and gave generous handfuls of candy to the kids smart enough to turn into a side street to get the goods. It's not even 7:30 but we're about to call it a night from a trick or treat perspective. My rule has historically been at least 8 (and usually I leave a light on until 9 in case some brazen older kids want to give it a shot) but it seems like all the action is pretty much over.

Hell yeah
That kid rules.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
