This video is so over the top in it's attempt to be creepy and goth. I like the song. I love the book it's based on. The video kind of follows the plot. Simon and Robert look creepy. Lol doesn't.
There is a fine line in goth between creepy and corny. Most end up on the corny side. Bauhaus did it right with "Mask."
I agree on the Bauhaus video. Goth has always been interesting to me because there is the concept of goth that I think a lot of people (including many goths themselves) have: lots of darkness, black clothes, cemeteries, and so on have. The musical genre, however, seldom seems to match that concept (at least once you step beyond the jokey stereotypical goth bands).

Goth makes more sense as a fan subculture than a music genre. As music, it's just really narrow and a creative cul de sac. As fans, tho, it's an opportunity to play dress-up. It's a visual subculture, less a musical one.
