I am a massive Small Faces collector so I own just about all of their material, several times, since they keep releasing it. I love Marriott, even like some Humble Pie and solo stuff, if he only ran the other way during the fire he would have had a massive resurgence in the 90's.

As a side note, I'm also a fan of early Rod solo and the Faces but it is impossible to convince anyone under 50 that their was once a time when Rod was cool. He has done a magnificent job of ruining his legacy and the only people that appreciate him are the geriatric crowd that just adore his American songbook series.

I went through each of his albums from 1990 to now and was only able to find about 7 or 8 songs that I liked and most of them were covers.

I really don't think he cares, he's laughing all the way to the bank and bank he made big time

I'm under 50 and like Rod's early solo albums ;).

I picked up both volumes of The Best of Rod Stewart on vinyl from the dollar bin at a local record shop when I was in my early 20's and I really liked what I heard. I then went and picked up his 1st 4 solo albums. They're all really, really good. I agree he's definitely squandered his talent and legacy. Kind of like Elton John almost did before saving his legacy with a string of solid albums to close out his career.

You, my friend, are in the minority! But oh yeah, his first few solo albums are solid, I think up to Atlantic Crossing are all great.

I saw CSI perform and I was excited that they played Cut Across Shorty

I just don't like Rod's voice. And he has been creatively redundant for about 40 years.

But you do find him sexy though.

Superb. That and Tin Soldier are two of my favourite vocals ever.

I only really got into them the last couple years. Did you know that Itchycoo Park is their only Top 40 US? How ridiculous is that?

As a man who gets over concerned by historical chart positions, it is very troublesome.

The mono version of There Are But Four Small Faces is my favourite album of theirs, even though it was put together for the American market. The mono versions have different mixes to the stereo and are much better. Here's my top 5.

Tin Soldier
(Tell Me) Have You Ever Seen Me
I'm Only Dreaming
Get Yourself Together
Itchycoo Park

Faces on Mars but no Small Faces in the Billboard 100. Something's a miss. I blame NASA.
