It is a memorable lyric but swanning about in yachts then using a phrase like 'nuclear war' so flippantly just seems wrong.Marky Dread wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:31pmYou know what I always liked that line. I thought it was like how a simple push of a button and then bang it's all gone.

They were but I meant swanning about in yachts in general. The video for 'Is There Something I Should Know' was a whole new line in pretentiousness.Marky Dread wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:36pmI thought the yachts were in the Rio vid?Heston wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:34pmIt is a memorable lyric but swanning about in yachts then using a phrase like 'nuclear war' so flippantly just seems wrong.Marky Dread wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:31pmYou know what I always liked that line. I always thought that was the point of the whole New Romantic movement.Heston wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:40pmThey were but I meant swanning about in yachts in general. I think New Romanticism had died out by 1983, it was just sheer indugence for the sake of it.Marky Dread wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:42pmI always thought that was the point of the whole New Romantic movement.Heston wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:40pmThey were but I meant swanning about in yachts in general. Yeah but they were one of the big new romantic bands. That dressing up thing has always been huge in rock 'n' roll. The 80's had so many crimes. Club Tropicana the drinks are free..are they fuck!Heston wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:45pmI think New Romanticism had died out by 1983, it was just sheer indugence for the sake of it.Marky Dread wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:42pmI always thought that was the point of the whole New Romantic movement.Heston wrote: ↑08 Aug 2018, 6:40pmThey were but I meant swanning about in yachts in general. From start to finish "The Reflex" has to be a contender for the worst lyric as a whole.
Oh is that where the uk 80s bar got its name.oliver wrote: ↑09 Aug 2018, 11:27amFrom start to finish "The Reflex" has to be a contender for the worst lyric as a whole.
I always cringe on hearing "why don't you use it? Try not to bruise it, buy time don't lose it"

Yeah. I love DD, but I really hate this song.oliver wrote: ↑09 Aug 2018, 11:27amFrom start to finish "The Reflex" has to be a contender for the worst lyric as a whole.

The lyrics on that album in general feel rushed and incomplete - which I've always felt said a lot about the circumstances in which it was made. I wouldn't say I hate The Reflex...but I also don't care too much about it.JennyB wrote: ↑09 Aug 2018, 12:37pmYeah. When I was quite young and not aware of popular music, this song was included in one of Weird Al's polka medleys and I was completely baffled by where it came from and what the hell it was supposed to mean.oliver wrote: ↑09 Aug 2018, 11:27amFrom start to finish "The Reflex" has to be a contender for the worst lyric as a whole.
