Same here, just without the quotation marks.

You got to love it when you get outjoked by the German 😂

Would rather listen to Kate Bush than anything Weller has done after the Jam.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Kate Bush is a British National treasure, I remember post punk Wuthering Heights, I got it later.
She has personal integrity and is a great lyricist, Dancer & mime artist, I Love a lot of her recorded output but have not heard all of it, I have 4 CDs and like them all, she is an enduring artist who loves humanity and is a gift that keeps on giving.
You don't even have to read between the lines to understand this one.
Army Dreamers

Kate Bush

Our little army boy
Is coming home from B.F.P.O.
I've a bunch of purple flowers
To decorate to mammy's hero

Mourning in the aerodrome
The weather warmer, he is colder
Four men in uniform
To carry home my little soldier

But he didn't have the money for a guitar
(What could he do)
(Should have been a politician)
But he never had a proper education
(What could he do)
(Should have been a father)
But he never even made it to his twenties
What a waste
Army dreamers
Ooh, what a waste of
Army dreamers

Tears o'er a tin box
Oh, Jesus Christ, he wasn't to know
Like a chicken with a fox
He couldn't win the war with ego

Give the kid the pick of pips
And give him all your stripes and ribbons
Now he's sitting in his hole
He might as well have buttons and bows

But he didn't have the money for a guitar
(What could he do)
(Should have been a politician)
But he never had a proper education
(What could he do)
(Should have been a father)
But he never even made it to his twenties
What a waste
Army dreamers
Ooh, what a waste of
Army dreamers
Ooh, what a waste of all that
Army dreamers
Army dreamers
Army dreamers, oh

I've tried several times to get into her music...just can't do it. Not even sure why, but she has never resonated with me. Maybe a handful of songs I kind of like...but that's it.

I’ve been a member on these boards so I have learnt that nothing surprises me.

The fact that some people aren’t joking and genuinely prefer Duran Duran to Kate Bush is a surprise though 😳

It's funny, Kate Bush is seen as Proper, Serious Artistic music and Duran Duran as lightweight, childish pop. I think both are coats around the actual content which probably isn't that materially different but the way they're considered and consumed is defined by their poses.

The operating principle of the music industry (hell, entertainment industry) isn't whether something is good or no (whatever that means), but can it be successfully marketed? If some executive doesn't believe it can be packaged, it won't be picked up. So, in a larger sense, there is no difference between any music types, only how they can be marketed.

I remember as a 17 year old seeing a poster of Kate Bush in a vest top in the centre pages of Record Mirror. Years later I saw pictures of Duran Duran in similar gear. No comparison.
Don't really care much about either's music, but if I have to differentiate, then I'm behind Kate.

She's fucking rubbish.
She’s better than Duran Duran.
By a country mile and I like some Duran Duran.
