Piper and Animals are great in different ways. I occasionally enjoy other stuff.

I never gave PF a chance, same with Led Zeppelin, I was a punk, they were dinosaurs. Only started to listen to them in my late 20's and now I love them both
I like Zeppelin. Just can't stand PF.

Animals has some good stuff. The Nile Song is kind of cool because so many Floyd fans don't (or didn't when I was in HS) know who it is/was and often don't/didn't like it.

For me they like Led Zeppelin suffer from tremendous over exposure. Money and Stairway to Heaven should be banned forever.

Hello,

Music - interesting at times with occasional shades of boredom. Content - really pretentious at worst, really narcissist at best. There's some good PF tracks but the preponderance of their works fall into the latter.

I think that's a major understatement. But otherwise I'd agree with this.

Id actually prefer them to some of the stuff people sometimes gush over. Cough Duran Duran cough.

The only output I can get behind are Animals and Obscure by the Clouds which are both more Gilmore focused guitar record. Roger Waters in not as deep as he think he is and all of those songs about his trauma sounds trite and narcissistic. He's also a self professed liberal bigot and I can't get behind that.

I've already done my part. If we can just get Flake to turn, we might yet win this!

I like most of their output. Some more than others. Who cares!

I'm a big Syd fan love his solo albums and Piper. But I dig The Wall, Animals and Dark Side.

I just listened to Dark Side and it's a pretty fantastic album from start to finish. Creepy and unsettling and well played.

Agreed. I love the early mix that is on the Immersion box set.

Is that the one Alan Parsons did? I also really like that mix.

Syd era Floyd is almost another band entirely, and doesn't really have the (perceived) shortcomings that would follow post-Syd. I like a far amount of Pink Floyd, but it's been a long-ass time since I've willingly played Dark Side of the Moon.

Yes Alan Parsons supervised the sessions. The instrumentation/separation is a lot clearer without a lot of the added voices effects etc.
