Sorry...they get harder to take seriously the more charity shows they share a stage with Kay Hanley, Bronson Arroyo, Peter Gammons, and Theo Epstein on J. Henry's dime. I fully expect you'll be seeing more Pedroia and Youkilis jerseys on BC meatheads at their shows...or my favorite new combo which has sprung up like douchebaggy weeds across town: the dating couple with the girl in an Ellsbury jersey and pink hat and the (advertising his emasculation to the world despite the truckly facial hair) guy in a Bay jersey and green hat.

Wait, sorry, what's so bad about doing gigs for charity again? That stuff the Sox and DKM do usually pulls in a lot of dough for good causes.Rat Patrol wrote:Amendedendeded.

If I were the DKM, and I had a chance to so so much with the Red Sox, I would absolutely jump at the chance. They're fans and they're basically living a fan's dream.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

Re: Dropkick Murphys
Because they're business partners. DKM have long acted as liason between local acts under their umbrella and record label people on their rolodex. Since the charity gigs started they've been steering those acts to the Sox gigs...and pooling them to Hanley's label and Fenway Recordings, who are also partners with the team for the gigs, to scout and sometimes sign or pass on to other indie labels. The team has had growing interest in music promotion after starting to use the Park as a (bad) rock concert venue and with the ownership's property machinations with the strip of ever-changing, ever-more-corporate concert clubs across the street. Lucchino's not been shy about opining on the money that others make promoting acts in town, so it's starting at very low levels to raise some eyebrows that there's a bit of insider trading going on among partners of a very, very large and diversifying conglomerate that openly pines for a slice of the pie.Flex wrote:Wait, sorry, what's so bad about doing gigs for charity again? Well, that and anyone who willingly shares a stage with Epstein while he's miming to Mike McCready riffs for the 59,874th time in public is pretty much asking for the pink hats and 46 jerseys to show up to their shows in force.

i'll take newer SLF before DKM anyday.Flex wrote:I saw Street Dogs a few weeks ago and they were awesome. I want to see Street Dogs/DKM do a twin bill. That would be like a night of pure awesome for me.In A Rut wrote:i've seen them a few times. their music is too "yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" for me (i'm not a fan of Al Barr's singing in that band - The Bruisers were a better fit). i'll take the Street Dogs over DKM anyday (or the Mike McColgan era stuff). in fact, forget them both and put on a SLF album.
I like SLF, but sometimes I like to listen to music that's - you know - contemporary.
