I like them OK. IN the end thougg, they are an extention of the insular nature of white Boston. They aren't bigots but I don't think they have many friends with much in the way of pigmentation.

One of their albums (Sing Loud, Sing Proud I believe) has a MLK quote in big type across the insert. So yeah, definitely not racist but they also sport a pretty provincial Boston/New England outlook. I think one of the reasons I like them is they remind me of home and family.

Moxie and brown bread in a can?
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.

I saw Dropkick Murphys a few years back when they opened for Motorhead. It was a fucking wicked gig!

i've seen them a few times. their music is too "yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" for me (i'm not a fan of Al Barr's singing in that band - The Bruisers were a better fit). i'll take the Street Dogs over DKM anyday (or the Mike McColgan era stuff). in fact, forget them both and put on a SLF album.

I saw Street Dogs a few weeks ago and they were awesome. I want to see Street Dogs/DKM do a twin bill. That would be like a night of pure awesome for me.

I like SLF, but sometimes I like to listen to music that's - you know - contemporary.

Agreed. I think for me listening to them is kind of what it's like listening to The Jam for our folks across the pond.
