It may have been inevitable, but it's horrible to objectify them as paragons of cool because of their self-destructive instincts.

I don't think Sid had any problem handling being a Sex Pistol to be fair. Sid was self destructive regardless. I think he would've kilked himself with drugs even if he had stayed a fan. He was a addict long before the band or Nancy. Maybe the greater access to heroin being in a famous band meant he just died sooner.white man wrote: ↑17 Jun 2022, 8:43amA tragic tale. Re: Sex Pistols
I don't think he could've coped beyond punk really. Sid was always saying he would die young. Sid could sing a bit but he didn't have the talent of the other Pistols so I can see him having a short lived career. Cover versions for a short period but he could barely play bass so not much else going for him. McLaren wanted a whole album of cover versions. It was said that Sid would cover "Mack the Knife" and "Je Ne Regrette Rien" so that would've been fun. Paul and Steve were all set to fly to the US to record an album but then he o'd. Just a sad waste really.white man wrote: ↑17 Jun 2022, 7:29pmLike a kid in a sweet shop mate. Directed by Danny Garcia who did Rise and Fall if The Clash (Clash 2 doc).
Has any Max’s footage ever surfaced?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: Sex Pistols
I've watched it twice now. And it is an enjoyable watch. I just have to switch off from any facts being distorted.
A whole episode dedicated to Pauline and the song "Bodies" yet Sid had yet to join the band. So many things out of sync. Still it's a drama not a documentary.

Yeah, I'm not opposed to making alterations to make for a better-flowing narrative, but the reason for many of the changes here is difficult for me to understand.Marky Dread wrote: ↑01 Jul 2022, 3:20amI've watched it twice now. Nothing more than a lack of care regards timelines. Which is a shame as some of the other attention to detail is excellent.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑01 Jul 2022, 7:10amYeah, I'm not opposed to making alterations to make for a better-flowing narrative, but the reason for many of the changes here is difficult for me to understand.Marky Dread wrote: ↑01 Jul 2022, 3:20amI've watched it twice now.
