10 Commandments (of Saffiyah Khan).
Brilliant track in so many ways matched only by the inspiring backstory.
Whether this is the real Specials or not that track alone proves Encore is a Specials album and the Specials ideals (from Jerry) are all over this album.
I'm glad you like that track. It does feel like a distant cousin to the Boiler.
Yes ties together Prince Busters original, The Boiler and Khan’s own story of today over a fantastic track.
I was always going to like this album but far exceeds my expectation. Gil mentioned the 2 ‘spoken’ tracks but both are delivered perfectly so don’t come across as narrated to me especially Black Lives Matter which is (as I hoped it would be) is Why part 2.
I said way back in the thread they were both very strong tracks on a serious subject. I think they work best as naratation.

Brilliant mate nice collection.
Cheers Marky.
Seems to be never ending as I set out to get a copy of each 7” but now the OCD in me wants to get every label type of each 7”.
Luckily I have restricted it to 2 Tone label catalogue #’s so I don’t have to worry about the 1,000s of import versions.

Haven't got the new Beat album yet. Have you heard it, I really liked Bounce.

I checked a couple of songs out on YouTube, wasn't impressed enough to delve further.

As for the new Specials album, I've been playing it for a couple of weeks, and whilst it's good, it's a bit one-paced. I know they're getting on a bit but a couple of stompers would have been welcome. I will say the album is fantastic lyrically.

Agreed re the lyrics. Shame Jerry isn't involved I am sure he would be a real fan of the lyrical content as that was his inspiration for the band from day one.

In truth I think they miss Roddy more as he was always the rock 'n' roll elment of the band. Still a solid album regardless.
