Also, is Careless Whisper a Wham or GM solo song? How the fuck is this unclear? Wikipedia says it's a GM solo tune, but it was released on a Wham album and was cowritten by the Wham dude who isn't GM. So weird.
Solo in the UK, released as Wham in the States I think. Andrew Ridgely got a writing credit even though he wrote fuck all on it.
Careless Whisper is a great song.
It's good at what it does but not my cup of tea. What perplexes me about GM is that he can't play any instruments but is solely credited on lots of sometimes musically complex songs. That must be a pretty hard feat unless he gets a LOT of help on chord changes etc.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Heston, what are the parameters for “losing” this poll? I mean other than making it in the first place.
He's gotten 12 people (minus himself) to commit to a musical Sophie's choice. That's kind of a perverse win, I guess.

Guys, Hoy thinks Phil Collins has 10 great songs. Heston's poll impalement is mere distraction from the real warcrime. :naughty:

Reminds me of Michael: https://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/the ... usic-16799

But that seems like a remarkable talent that I don't think George Michael had.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Careless Whisper is a shit song, I loathe it. Stupid fucking asthmatic saxophone.
what makes it asthmatic?
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I dig Careless Whisper. The sax is super dated, but the chorus is a great melody.

Can we crowdfund a doorbell for Murph's place that plays the sax riff?

I'm in. That guy is worse than the hippies, the flappers, and the Nazis combined.

I’d look at your butt, George, but I’m transfixed by Dennis Miller’s main-esque mullet.
Transfixed like Cardinal Richelieu staring at Louis XIII's wife, Anne of Austria, and being inspired to jump into the Thirty Years War. /Millerized

That was just an actor, not really Richelieu.

George Michael gave writing credits to Andrew Ridgely on several songs that he contributed nothing because he was a good bloke and wanted his mate to be rich!
