Woodstock vs Live Aid Poll

Post by Heston »

On a cultural and musical level, which do you prefer?

I voted Woodstock, but only as part of the twin-headed beast of Woodstock-Altamont.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't horribly fascinated by your KISS idea.

Woodstock had plenty of great music.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

Live Aid would have been better if Pete Townshend bashed him over the head with his guitar.

It had no worldwide profile like Woodstock and Live Aid. Don't think I'd heard of it until I saw the Clash footage in about 1999.

Say what you like about Phil, that must take some balls. Not really my cup of tea but he performs it well.

Not saying Live Aid was musically all that fantastic but I can at least relate to it, having lived through it and engaged with it at the time, from a distance anyway. Woodstock doesn’t mean a whole lot to me. Can appreciate its historical value but never held much artistic appeal for me.

This is unacceptable for a boy your age. See me after class.

Frank Zappa was invited to perform, but refused because he believed that the money raised by Live Aid did not address the core problems facing the developing world and instead aided the developed world by providing ways to get drugs, calling the concert "the biggest cocaine money laundering scheme of all time"
