Woodstock had plenty of great music.
Agreed. Live Aid just had Queen and a bunch of fifteen minute sets including the worst Zeppelin performance ever.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Live Aid did nothing for me. I remember it being on in the pub but I was in a big Three Card Brag game so wasn’t too interested.

Frank Zappa was invited to perform, but refused because he believed that the money raised by Live Aid did not address the core problems facing the developing world and instead aided the developed world by providing ways to get drugs, calling the concert "the biggest cocaine money laundering scheme of all time"
I had a student write a fantastic paper comparing Live Aid to the Rock Against Racism concerts. The latter, she argued, were about consciousness raising, truly altering people's attitudes to be carried forward in all parts of their lives. Live Aid had no greater demand than opening the wallet, doing nothing to address the fundamental socio-economic causes of the famine and the West's role in it.

I almost voted the Kiss idea, but I ended up voting Woodstock because Zappa wasn’t wrong. And weirdly, neither is Hoy.

Heston did better in his KISS/Replacements and KISS/New York Dolls polls.

Woodstock '99...and only because they burned it down and forgot about it instead of making it a Boomer-ballwashing cultural touchstone. :shifty:

Hey, I voted Woodstock.
My apologies. I assumed your 80s music/Phil Collins allegiance would guide you to Live Aid.

*snicker* Rather, it crashed sooner.
