Non drunk answer American Ruse - MC5
I don't know about National Anthem but that's a great tune.

Total classic! Welcome back Sonic!
They told you in school about freedom but when you try to be free they never let you.
I learned to say the pledge of allegiance, before they beat me bloody down at the station
And that last line is all too timely.

This Land Is Your Land is the correct answer, but More Than A Feeling is a fine one too.
I agree with the first half of this post.

Certainly this does come down to function. Aspiration/inspiration is one route and I don't reject it (I don't think so, anyway), but I hesitate when it's not connected to the historical values of the nation.
I meant to say: if we're going with a descriptive national anthem, I vote for "Soup is Good Food"
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

I already claimed "Police Truck," but there's a shit-ton of DK songs that fit. "Stars and Stripes of Corruption" pretty much demands being an anthem.

It should be that Lee Greenwood song..."I'm proud to be an American...where at least I know I'm free..." ;)

Suicide, "Frankie Teardrop." Sports would never be the same.

I was somewhere last year and they brought him in to sing it live - want to say it was the IndyCar Series race at Road America. It was really awful and way too many people were really into it.

I'm really curious as to who voted for Centerfold.
The word "geil" was really fashionable here in the early 80s. I wonder if that helped the record sales in any way. Perfect timing, marketing-wise.
