Friday Poll Thread #4 - Best Who album
This is the first in my series of "big hitters from the 60s" polls. I left out their last LP "Endless Wire" because it wouldn't fit and it's shit.

I voted "Who Sell Out", I love those weird little pop songs like Tattoo and Odorono. And Sunrise is just something wondrous.

Shit. Torn between the first three records, which capture my purest aesthetic love of The Who. Their stadium rocker records from Tommy onwards I also enjoy, but they don't resonate on as much of a personal level as those first three.
Shit. Gotta think about this one a bit. The rare non-terrible Heston poll.

I can't vote for Endless Wire?

Me too. I've always loved that record. Odorono is a GREAT track as is Mary Anne with the Shaky Hand.

My Generation has my favourite Who song, "The Kids Are Alright," but Sell Out blends Pete's conceptual ambition, fun songs, and a sense of humour. Gotta go with Sell Out.

Re: Friday Poll Thread #4 - Best Who album
I went with Who's Next however if I could make an album with my faves from the first 3 albums it would be no contest. However I haven't listened to those first 3 in their entirety in a long time.

Sell Out. And for me it’s not even close.

I guess I need to listen to A Sell Out again. I no longer have a functioning turntable to go with my crates of records though. To Soulseek!!

Re: Friday Poll Thread #4 - Best Who album
I'm giving into peer pressure and going with Sell Out for the reasons stated: fully developed and realized album, et cetera.
But check this 65-66 fantasy LP out:
A side:
1. My Generation
2. I Can't Explain
3. Substitute
4. A Legal Matter
5. The Good's Gone
6. Happy Jack
B side:
7. The Kids Are Alright
8. Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere
9. I'm a Boy
10. Boris The Spider
11. So Sad About Us
12. Out in the Street

The Who Sell Out is, for me, by far their greatest, and the reissue with all the extra tracks is fantastic. I hate Tommy and the rest is pretty hit and miss, mostly miss

That would be a dope compilation.Flex wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 7:48pmI'm giving into peer pressure and going with Sell Out for the reasons stated: fully developed and realized album, et cetera.

I think Who’s Next is a perfectly fine hard rock album, but I massively prefer their mod pop phase.

Re: Friday Poll Thread #4 - Best Who album
Tommy's the album I'm most likely to put on, rather than individual tracks.
