My last stadium gig was Coldplay and to be fair it was outstanding. The band and the show.

I prefer clubs and whatnot, but I don't think I've ever skipped an artist I'd otherwise have wanted to see because they played a stadium. I mean, otherwise I'd never get to see The Who and whatnot

Yes I guess most people would agree with this. I saw both The Jam (in a gym) and The Clash (in an arts centre) and they were the best 2 gigs I have been to.

Small venues are ideal, but Beyoncé and Taylor Swift were probably preferable in a stadium. I could see other pop or pop legends (like Billy Joel) being similarly ideal in a stadium.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I’d go to these kinds of shows for free but they’re not free. I do the math and the math tells me that it’s going to end up being a $500-$600 night (two tickets, dinner, beers, transport). I’d rather spend the dough on something else.

Bey and Tay Tay were fucking expensive. Fortunately, I only go to shows like that every two or three years and usually go to five to ten regular shows a year.

Trust me: I would much rather forget Coldplay. The way I forget their music when I’m not hearing.

Someone told me that at first they thought Coldplay was slang for necrophilia and now that’s all I think when I hear about them.
