Generation X Debut Deluxe Edition

Post by JChampion »

Has anyone gotten the Generation X Deluxe Edition of the first album?
I was wondering if it's worth it for the rare mixes or is it just a completist thing?

Got it today JC. It's excellent puts all the other versions in the shade. Remixed/remastered a great nice crisp sound allowing the guitars to really shine. Everything sounds powerful the rare(r) tracks are a delight. Great to have everything in one place finally. It has the studio version of Lennon's ''Gimme Some Truth'' that was only available on the US version of the debut and sells for silly prices now. The 7'' "Your Generation [Winstanley Mix]" b/w "Trying For Kicks [Winstanley Mix]" are not on the CD their counterpart versions are of course.

I'm looking forward to ''Valley of the Dolls'' hopefully getting the same treatment.

Well, that's all I needed to hear. I'll be ordering mine this week. I have the US version of the first LP and I think that version of Gimme Some Truth is easily the best version. The 7'' "Your Generation [Winstanley Mix]" I ordered last week because I missed out on it on RSD. That is an estimated delivery date of the 2nd to the 6th of May. I'm very anxious for it's arrival.
Thanks for the review!

Hello,

This is better. My ears are not as refined as others here but it sounds cleaner, harder, and 'more better' - kind of like the Ramones 40th anniversary albums sound better than the originals. I've always liked Generation X for their clean, guitar sound and songs. This is worth it.

It's well worth the investment.

I still remember when I found the old version at a Barnes and Noble way back when CDs were still new enough that it was hard to find punk classics because nobody carried them yet and there was no online recourse. My mind was blown.

So the Missus got a new entertainment cabinet / sideboard thing that is much bigger then the old one and means there is room for (some) of my vinyl 😊
So I was sorting through which ones to put in and I found 2 Skids albums I had forgotten I had!!!

What's this got to do with the Generation X debut reissue?

Probably nothing and more to do with me posting in the wrong thread 😂
