Comp name game

Post by Chuck Mangione »

If you had to name a compilation of your favorite band or artist what would it be? A couple I thought up:

I Use the Best, I Use the Rest - Sex Pistols
Ultra Black Market Clash - The Clash

That's so funny, I used UBMC for my comp that collected everything that's now on the bonus Soundsystem disc.

I think my favorite comp name was for a band called D Generation that I made called "In the Gutter with a Promise," after one of their lyrics.

"Great minds.."

Not very familiar with D Generation, do you have the specified comp handy?

I don't, it was on a cassette way back. I'd recommend just checking out their album "No Lunch." They were kind of a glam punk band I suppose.

I made a Boris the Sprinkler mix called The Voice Of Geek America and an AC/DC one called Noise Pollution.

Side note: I don’t know if one has been released in the last 15 years but I remember decrying the lack of a good single disc AC/DC comp for years

It’s absolutely absurd, given that they aren’t exactly an album band. Any of their songs stand alone.

Their albums after Back In Black are worthless.

I like, I think, three songs after Back in Black.

Hello,

Stiff Upper Lip is okay. They've been putting out product to please their base for a long time.

I think, as a rule of thumb, for post BiB acdc albums, the title track and whatever song is about rock and roll for that album tend to be pretty enjoyable. Who Made Who is one of my fave acdc songs.

I bought " for those about to rock" whenever the hell that came out. I dont recall caring for it and haven't listened much to it after buying it. In general I'm not a big fan of the post Bon Scott era. I think those first four or so albums have 3 or 4 good songs.

I've never made my own comps for artists. I used to make a lot of mixes often themed in some way.
