I met a Sex Pistol tonight
Went to see Glen Matlock at Joes Pub, which is part of the Public Theatre in NYC. Real classy joint, Glen was playing, 3/4 full, just him an an acoustic, wonderful show. Got to chat with him afterward, Tried to be cool but I was a total fanboy and he really couldn't care but still all I managed to say was "thank you". He also played one of my favorite songs by one of my all time favorite bands, Small Faces, All or Nothing which I caught on video.

Good stuff, Glen is rumoured to be a very amiable and friendly bloke.

Glen has played All or Nothing in his set for years now. He's a huge Small Faces fan. I've met Glen a couple of times and he comes across as a real decent guy.coffeepotman wrote: ↑12 Jun 2019, 12:07amWent to see Glen Matlock at Joes Pub, which is part of the Public Theatre in NYC. Yea, real nice guy, great set with little stories before each song. I really like the way he plays the guitar, strong attack with mostly open chords. He came out to the merch table to sign stuff but all he had was the book I was a teenage Sex Pistol and a cd, both of which I own so I just walked up to him and said thank you. I don't do the fanboy thing but this was a pretty big deal for me, never met a Sex Pistol before.

Joe's Pub is a great place to see a show. I saw Julie Klausner do a show there a few years back with AdRock on bass. Good stuff.

It's a real classy joint, it's fun to go to, get all dressed up, buy some overpriced cocktails and see an intimate show. I was really surprised that it was only 3/4 full, I mean c'mon, the guy is a legend.

Very cool. It's always nice to hear when someone you admire is kind.

He was a great bassist for that band but I can definitely relate to their inability to get along.

Once it became more than the music, the combination of Lydon, McLaren, and the media all in spectacle mode just wasn't what Glen wanted, and good for him knowing enough to get out. He's had a journeyman's career, but it's been his own.

Plus, Glen seems like the guy who'd pick up the tab, while Lydon'd run off while you're in the can.

I'm just glad they were able to do the reunion tour in 96 and hopefully make some real money, plus I did get to see them both nights at the Ritz and they were excellent

Great story thanks for sharing. Nothing wrong with being a fanboy it happens to the best of us (nothing more embarrassing than my Weller meeting and failed selfie).
